Frequently Asked Questions

What are your session fees?
My fees vary depending on the type of therapy. Please reach out by email or phone to learn more about current rates for individual and couples therapy.

Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. I offer a 15-minute phone consultation so we can get a sense of each other and see if it feels like a good fit.

Do you take insurance?
I accept some insurance plans and can also provide a superbill for clients who want to request out-of-network reimbursement. I’m happy to talk through this process during our consultation.

How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions. Over time, we may adjust the frequency depending on your needs and goals.

Do you offer in person or virtual services?

I offer virtual therapy throughout New York State and Washington DC. I offer in person therapy in the city of Syracuse New York.

I have a variety of options for virtual therapy and will discuss the options in our initial consultation.

How long will therapy take?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people come for a few months to work on a specific issue, while others stay longer to do deeper, ongoing work. We’ll check in regularly about how things are going and what feels most helpful.

What if I’ve never done therapy before—or I’m not sure I really need it?
That’s okay. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If something isn’t working in your life or relationships, or if you’re simply feeling stuck, we can start there.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
There are many therapy approaches, and not every therapist is the right fit for every person. What matters most is how it feels to be in the room together.
If you ever start to feel unsure about continuing, I’ll encourage you to bring that into a session—not to talk you out of leaving, but because it can be a powerful opportunity to practice speaking up, being direct, and ending something with clarity and care. You’re always free to make the choice that feels right for you.

Will our sessions be confidential?
Yes. Everything we talk about in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions involving safety (such as imminent risk of harm to yourself or others). We’ll go over this in more detail during your first session so you know exactly what to expect.

What’s your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a full session fee, though I understand that emergencies happen and will take circumstances into account.

How should I prepare for my first session?
Before we meet, I’ll send you some initial paperwork, including consent forms and a patient history questionnaire. You’re welcome to take your time with it and fill out what you can.

There’s no need to have everything figured out—just come as you are. Our first session is a chance to begin getting to know each other and explore what you’re hoping for in therapy.
